Daiseys and Cubs

Our organization has a unique name!  We see that the word Daiseys is misspelled, and it was no accident!  We got the names from our children....they are in the Girl Scouts of America, and decided that we were going to name the organization after the youngest of the troops Daisies and Cubs....but my daughter spelled it out as "Daiseys and Cubs"  We decided it was a true show of how innocently happy children can be when they are creative, and inspired!  So there you have it....the golden question I have been asked so much!  How did you get that name Megon!

Welcome to our projects page.  Below you will find a list of our current projects.  If you would like to volunteer for a project, or are willing to donate, please send us an email.  On our contact page you will find our email, and our address.
  • This year scrap booking is new.  Some of our volunteers enjoy scrap booking, and have volunteered to make small scrap books to send to our foster children, so they can make memories, and add pictures, and good times to their books.  We are asking for donations of scrap booking materials, and small scrap books.  This will give us a new project this year.  We also love to receive completed scrap books that are easy for the children to add pictures to.  Something unique and fun.  If you wanna join the fun, send us a message and let us know you want to help.
  • Some of our younger volunteers enjoy creating pillow cases for our foster children.  We provide pillow cases, and the children paint on them, and draw on them, and add a little personalized message for a child to keep.  The idea of the pillow cases comes from one of our youngest volunteers who loves to draw.  She loves to color pillow cases, and in them she keeps her most valued belongings.  With this idea we came up with a Pillow of Mine.  Our children can take with them these pillow cases, and even as they journey from each home, they will have their pillow case to comfort them, and keep with them their prized possessions.
  • Infant blankets are popular for our shelters, and our hospitals.  The volunteers love to make these beautiful blankets.  We are always looking for more volunteers, and yarn donations for our beautiful baby afghans.  We are currently looking to add some patterns to our pattern page.  We decided to add this page so we can share our patterns to our further away volunteers.
  • These afghans go mostly to our foster children and battered women's shelters.  We give them where they are needed, and are in big demand for children's afghans.  Volunteers are needed, and donations welcomed.
  • These blankets are so awesome to give.  The love that comes from handing these out is incredible.  Our elderly friends love to see us, the joy in their faces as we bring them gifts, and share a moment with them is worth the time we spend putting together these blankets.  Lots of volunteers love to quilt these blankets.  We are looking for more volunteers to help up make these blankets.  Our goal is 200 lap blankets for Christmas this year!
  • This is a project that we use less than the blankets.  Teddy bears are in demand, and hard to find.  We love to send our teddy bears with the pillow cases for our foster and shelter children.  A new beginning is so hard for these young children.  Often times they are ripped from their homes so fast, they barely have a chance to grab a coat.  We like to give these bears to these children in hopes that they have a friend to carry through their journey.  One less tear is what we hope to accomplish.  We are always accepting teddy bears, small and large.  The children love them!
  • Back to School is huge!  The kids are excited and ready to get back into the class and have some fun, and learn new things.  It is also a difficult time for some families.  With the growing list of back to school necessities, there are families that are unable to send their children back to school with all the things they need.  We like to volunteer to supply classrooms with extra materials to help the less fortunate children receive the same materials as the entire class.  Our teachers are grateful, as they know how hard it can be to endure every child is equal, and no child is left behind.  Each year we ask our volunteers to provide extra items, such as:

    Penciles

    Colored Penciles

    Markers

    Writing Paper

    Glue/Glue Sticks

    Pens

    Organizers/Backpacks

    Folders

    Scissors

    Tape

    Calculators

    Rulers

    Sharpies

There are many more items these children need, and the list goes on, but these are some of the items we donate to the less fortunate classes.

  • Last year we received an unexpected donation of computers and electronics.  We were able to donate personal computers to several of our shelters and foster families to help in the education of the children, and to assist mothers in searching for a job.  It is an exciting addition to the program, and we are hopeful that this year we will be able to donate more computers and electronics to the children and shelters.

This year we will be adding comments and stories with pictures!  If you want to contribute pictures to post, or want us to post pictures of your completed projects, we will be happy to add them.

We look forward to adding more volunteers.  Please spread the word, so we can spread the LOVE!
